Simple Red Rose

This is some cuppies I gave to my sister...Having some leftover buttercream, I made this simple (and yet look elegant)...suitable for engagement or wedding cuppies, dont u think??

And I really LOVE how well the rossette hold itself...remember people, it is all about consistency...:)

Happy Birthday to Ebab and Melah - Thanx to Iza

Today's flavor is chocolate...commissioned by Iza (her second time) for her dear sister n niece. I am so flattered to have a repeated customer...hope she will be one of my regulars...
Her request was to have red, pink and white theme...which I am gladly to oblige....coz it is a theme for romantic roses, don't you think?
Lesson for today is, make sure the message pop out and easy to the eyes...mine here is kinda painful, hahah....This is not my fav part of the cuppies...

This is my fav part....working with workable buttercream is such a great feeling....like I own the world (hahah...the drama queen in me is here)...

But coloring it RED is sure a hassle n lots of (I mean really A LOT) of coloring...at first, it is right red but after I've tweaked the buttercream....the shade is getting darker to a MAROON!!*sigh* (Mental note: Need to charge extra for red and need to tweak first before coloring)
However....I 'get' the correct buttercream consistency...and this makes me really happy....yippeee!!!

Blue for Blueberry

Hi..I am back, after a rejuvenating weekend...Today is all about BLUE..blueberry....blue color.....hahah
I love roses...trying the best I can to create roses there....is that a rose to you??
My hand work is kinda sloppy today...because I am so disheartened at buttercream consistency....
I made a bakers blunder...and it is a good lesson to me
The most tragic thing is...I can't add blueberry flavor to the cream coz I've 'lost' it...mysteriously..

Second time is a charm?!

Getting so motivate at my first successful sale, I immediately whipped up 2 doz of cuppies for the next sale. This time I choose to bake orange cuppies. Yummy if u really like orange.

Determine in perfecting my flower deco, I opt for rose bouquet and as u can see...not successful one...but I do admit, the color is impressive, dont u think?

Nevertheless...I am still happy doing this...and keep on going while I can....hahah....

My Second Attempt For A First Sale

After a heartbreaking failure (see here ) I am looking forward to bake and decorate another batch of cuppies. Unwilling to strain myself, I bake only a dozen cuppies this time. Baking is not tough...but the decorating part IS ..especially the buttercream...to this day, buttercream is still my nightmare.

As first impression are important, I select electrifying blue n yellow color to grace my cuppies. The decoration part is the most exciting part of all...I choose rosette as my deco theme just to practice my piping technique...and I need a lot more....so it seems. And I got carried away too...and it got crazy....haha notice that each cuppy have 'unique' design?

When I whipped up the buttercream...I didn't follow exactly the recipe...I go by taste....and its delish! But its consistency worries me....and I am right to be worried...by warm climate such as here, the buttercream 'expand' (shall I say that?)...but piping the rosette is not much difficulty, I just need to get use the twirling of my wrist n the pressure I should assert on the piping bag. I enjoy piping the leaves though.....hahah coz it is so easy, nothing would go wrong
So I brought my 'crazy' cuppies...hoping nobody would pay attention to its imperfection. But I get compliments instead :) (hahah...i take it that they really mean it....). Yay! A booster for my crushed confident!!! And I vow, not to succumb to my laziness when it comes to buttercream...I MUST PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! Hopefully I can be one with my buttercream...figuratively speaking, that is..(dont get any weird ideas people!)
The other reason why buttercream and me have this love/hate relationship is the greasy, slimy feel of anything when in contact with buttercream...and it drive me crazy...but now thanks to my sis who have donated her old jug water heater...I can efficiently skim of the grease on any surface....Yay!!!

A cuppy for my agent...my rossete is getting wild there...

The sale was really quick...and to my own amazement, I even got commissioned! Though tired and busy as I am...I will not passing up this opportunity...as i like the idea of themed cuppies...

I'm really lightheaded now...the path have been laid out for me...thanx to my agent for his diligent effort in convincing me to do this...I am not ready before...but now, bring it on...(hahah being corky, aren't I?)

Flopped Effort

Survived cuppies

This morning... I woke up with a bright and shiny smile on my face. Today, I would be starting to continue my Du 'Naque venture. Last night, I made strawberry cuppies with n without icing...At first, I'm thinking of making few simple design with 3 base colors...but thinking of attracting by taste rather than face....I opted for simple deco...just a tiny little love on top of white icing.

I'm experimenting with the cake n icing recipe...the cake is moist as expected and the icing is beyond my expectation...it is very creamy...

With that in mind...I am happy to present it to my agent...
But lo and behold......

As I was removing the cuppy box from paperback....somehow, the cuppy box toppled over....and all my little muffin have tumbled out to the floor.....and I am devastated!!!

Here was the aftermath pic:

Cuppies in the tsunami scene

So I have learned my lesson for today:
Rule no 1: Do not use a fitting paper bag that u have to struggle your way out
Rule no 2: Handle the cake with care and gentle...after all it is dainty little thing
Rule no 3: Take a pics immediately after u r done baking...u never know what might happened next

Debutante Cuppies

*Debutante:A young woman making her debut into society

Ta daa...my first ever cuppies ever decorated, which was a year ago??? Armed with very little knowlegde on baking...I brave myself to decorate with very much difficulty (duh?!). Though it is nothing much, but I must start somewhere right? It was along journey (literally driving back n forth Seremban --> Bangi)...The cuppies was well received, thanks to my expensive 'secret recipe'...and the story goes on searching tasty yet economical recipe and the right decoration technique...
